One fine day....

The pictures above were taken when we went out to town using public transportation, something which the kids have never experienced here, in Timor island. The public transportation [called 'bemo'] are very mini vans, decorated to the nines with window ray-band film designs....from punk rock, cartoon characters, Harry Potter, Twilight... to The Last Supper designs....depending on the owner's choice . Inside, there's a number of cuddly stuffed toy animals and artificial flowers artistically placed around...specially at the front...on the dashboard, besides feasting your eyes on these...you'll be entertained by non stop music [very loud] that reverberates in every part inside your head and the chambers of your heart goes thump-thump -thump in rhythm with it's beat [all the bemos have gone through a personal "pinp my ride" program, it seems]. Of course melchan and chub are swaying and singing along all the way, cos they are playing the popular hit songs of their generation. At night there's added bonus....lots of vehicles install disco lights inside.....[which causes temporary blindness to my eyes]...completing the image !! Imagine me and hubby going by bemo at night....hehehe...we come home with abnormal stars in our eyes and we walk like broken bed springs....songs still ringing in our ears... bemo already miles away. It is easy to tell if your ride will appear soon or not....If you hear music...before anything appears on the road...well, then it's coming...just wait one minute.

A few days after, the kids and I were on our way home ...it was already dark, and we got on a bemo so stylish, that we couldn't see the road cos the windows were fully filmed and the front was full of stuffed animals and decorations. I began to peer through a small part of glass in front that was miraculously not decorated....afraid we'd miss our stop ...[ you have to shout stoooop when you see your destination] turns out many people were also worried...and at the end we asked the 'conductor' [there is one hehehe.. an assistant to the driver who collects money from passengers, and stands in the doorway with his head sticking outside almost all through the journey] every 3 minutes, "Where are we now??"...one lady said," You'd better tell us every minute...I don't want to be taken to the next village with out me knowing it " ...the kids and I couldn't help laughing ! After all have been said...I still love the bemos :)

Bemo with flat tire..

We stood on the side of the road while they changed the tire,
and I started taking pics. This is across the street on the left.

On our side of the street...a water tank, common sight here
cos water is scarce...people buy water and these tanks come and deliver

A Padangnese restaurant, this is across the street on the right.

We started from home before noon, cos of the flat tire, we came to town late. Chub's tummy was growling so we looked around for some chow...and.... ta ta ta ...ta tum.....

Shocked? hahaha....me too...
new branch in the capital of NTT [Timor, Indonesia ]

After licking our fingers good ...went to a hotel's swimming pool at 4 pm....got into the pool...except melchan [green shirt hiding behind back pack] who'd like to finish reading her novel. I spied another sunset brewing !!, climbed out the pool .. took pics through the barbed wires between the swimming pool and the beach. Please enjoy OK :) Click on the pics to see it clearer.
