A burst of cultural exposure ^^
Marsoed Day...an Open House at Melchan and Chub's school...and mommy is the photographer and camera woman for the day. I took pixes and films not only of Melchan [who's in Senior High] and Chub [who's in Junior High]...but of every body ^^ The children and I had a great time !
I couldn't resist taking pics of these cute children
in their Papuan dancing costume. Nostalgic for me
because I went to school [senior high school]
in Jayapura, which is in Papua Island.
The event went smoothly under the guidance of the teachers,
but the students in the committee also worked hard.
Melchan had to perform an Acehnese dance with a group of girls
and perform in a band. She's also in the committee, with responsibility
of coordinating things back stage and such...
Above is a pair of giant Batavian/ Betawi Dolls called Ondel-ondel.
Originating from Jakarta, West Java [formerly known as Batavia],
they usually appear in parades and celebrations.
A person will get inside and the Ondel-ondel will dance^^
Chub, wearing red on the two pics upper and lower left,
had a part in an East Javanese cultural performance
where they played bamboo flutes.
It was raining at the time ...but thank goodness it didn't pour...
These boys were getting ready for the Balinese "Kecak" dance....
Like all Balinese people [men and woman], they had to wear flowers in their hair ^^
One of the band from Senior High....
Melchan is on the keyboard, wearing black.
At home she had practiced day and night ^^
I still have another batch of pixes...hope I could post it later...
